Association of Agricultural Producers of Chontaduro

APACH, is an organization of productive and community, created in 2009, formed mostly by women, peasants, afro descendants, indigenous, and victims of the conflict, that are dedicated to the transformation of the fruit of chontaduro cultivated in their farms located at La Vereda Cuatro Esquinas at El Tambo, Cauca, a municipality in Colombia nestled high on the rugged, verdant slopes of the Andes mountains in southwestern Colombia. It’s an area where coffee and peach palm fruit (chontaduro) farming plays a significant role in the local economy.

Here there is promising productive experiences: how to exchange illicit crops for chontaduro and cacao crops, fair sharing of profits and working time; Based on principles of solidarity and the articulation with other production organizations in the country in the National Table of Chontaduro to manage the recognition of this as a production chain. At APACH, they work for equity, with social Responsibility, respect for difference and for collective interests.

APACH’S MISSION

To strive for the improvement of the quality of life of those members of the organization, promoting activities of agricultural innovation, transformation, marketing, and clean and friendly production with the environment. The articulation of Community Processes and Institutions that allow the social, technical and economic development of all farmers and especially of our partners producers of cocoa and chontaduro.
